1. Paint with your kids
I love simple kid art projects. And you can hang it beautifully in your home.
2. Play board/card games
Boards games can turn a boring night into a fun little party fast. Just invite a few people over and get ready to have a ball!
3. Bake cookies from scratch
I love baking cookies from scratch. It’s a fun and frugal activity we enjoy doing as a family. And of course, the best part is when you finally get to taste the fruit of your labor!
4. Go camping in your backyard
This is a wonderful way to reconnect with your loved ones. I mean, who can resist s’mores, right?! Plus, you can even make it a device-free night!
5. Do a scavenger hunt with the kids
Challenge your kids to a fun scavenger hunt and you’ll finally get them off those tablets.
6. Host a potluck with family & friends
Feeding a crowd can add up, so hosting a potluck will save you time AND money. Just choose a theme like Mexican fiesta, breakfast, seafood, or finger food for example, and have your guests bring a corresponding dish.
7. Have a water fight
When the temperature outside rises and you want to get out of the house, why not have a water fight? It’s a great way to cool down and have a little fun too!

During the summer months, there are all kinds of free events going on. But don’t get tempted to spend money at those expensive concession stands. Just feed the entire family before you even leave the house!

These are simple activities that are fun and healthy for the whole family.
15. Count the stars at night
This is something I love to do with my husband on warm summer nights. After the kids are tucked in bed, we’ll sometimes go outside just to look up at the stars and use this time to reconnect. But it’s also fun to do this with the kids, too!

Yes, you can get the whole family involved! Start with one room and slowly move onto the next.
17. Visit a free museum, art show, or art festival
Most museums will have a free admission day, typically on Sundays.

Because you never know what books, videos, and music you may find! And at most local libraries you can surf the internet for free. You can also print documents for really cheap.

Scrapbooking is a fun way to get all those pictures off the internet and into a DIY photo album that you can cherish and display in your home. You can compile all of your memories in one place, and this little project will keep you busy all weekend long!
20. Visit a closed car lot
I love to go car shopping on days I know that dealerships are closed – that’s typically on Sundays and major holidays. Sometimes we even get lucky and find many cars still unlocked! It makes it fun to shop around without being hassled by annoying car salesmen.
21. Throw a yard sale
If you’re getting ready to move or you just want to get rid of excess clutter, it may be time to plan a yard sale. But you can also sell your old belongings on eBay, Craigslist, Facebook Yard Sales, and on OfferUp.
22. Go dumpster diving!
You know the saying, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. Sounds cliche, but it’s true. You never know what you may find that’ll only need a bit of cleaning.

Moving some furniture around can give your home a fresh new look!

Go through your Pinterest boards and challenge yourself to make something that inspired you. From recipes, a DIY project, homemade gifts, organization hacks, to cleaning tips – you’re sure to find one or more ideas to try this weekend!

Washing your car at home is cheaper than going to a car wash. Plus you can use your own vacuum (with an extension cord) to clean out every nook and cranny.

…and their kids too! Just hanging out is fun in and of itself.
27. Have a sleepover
You can host a sleepover for your children or just for your girlfriends. Get out the sleeping bags, popcorn, wine (for moms), and enjoy!
